Re: Connecting ARGUS 4 to the PC software.
There are a number of very confusingly named drivers for the Argus4, and the various camera types had different USB ID's. The USB ID were used to pre-selected some of the 'factory' side options and what colour the screen background was. The cameras use 'e2v' USB ID's not the Si-labs virtual port, I'...

Rechargeable batteries for Argus2 (and 1)
By now most of these batteries are 10 years old, even if the original fire service users bought some new ones near the end of production. Before condeming a pack, try a long slow manual charge of 100mA for a day on a constant current supply. Batteries that have been stored for a long time need to be...

Teardown and tour inside
I have added a new project to the website with a take apart and look around inside an Argus3 It starts here http://www.fire-tics.co.uk/project2/index.htm with some simple user guidance and carries on http://www.fire-tics.co.uk/project2/A3_repair1.htm taking apart and describing which functions are w...

Re: ArgusDirect website closed down
It was supposed to have a redirect - which has been a bit flaky and does not go direct to the deep link. The Avon takeover was several years ago.

Re: Pinout for battery PCB
Some specifics about the yellow wire, the charge input from the base. The charging base / truck mount had a constant current power supply in it, but the charge controller is in the camera. That kept the bulky power circuits out of the camera case. To use this pin to charge the battery, a current of ...

The VOx version
As well as the well known BST (yellow trim) and ASi (blue trim) versions there was a VOx version of Argus 3. By a version I mean we made one !
Pictures below show the internal chassis of the VOx version, with the adaptor at the bottom onto the usual power / connection 'Motherboard' PCB.

Re: Warning symbol
This is classic symptoms for a slow / sticky iris. Over time the motor lubricant comes out and spreads across the leaves of the iris, combines with bits of dust and makes up a sort of glue. It is a fairly easy fix as described above to get it apart and clean up between the iris leaves, no new parts ...

Re: Warning symbol
Picture below (forum now fixed) Blurry could simply be out of focus, and looking at a hot thing closes the iris and improved depth of field. Did the front elements housing go back OK, did you move the screw in the side at all ? The iris movement should run from one sensor 'gate' blocked (ie full ope...
